Autumn? Already...... surely not?

Okay so I guess the inevitable is happening... Autumn is fast approaching, hmm, not quite. We have had some good days during the Summer and we have had some downright awwwwful. However, no worries! I am thoroughly excited by the approaching autumn/winter collections in the shops! We have a new boutique opening nearby called NOA NOA (i'm sure they have branches elsewhere?)... search them on Facebook, their stuff looks fabulous!

I'll leave you with this inspiring modelling picture I found (have to say I hope I can get some confidence back and do some more photo shoots!) <3

Have an amazing weekend bloggers :) x

Ramblings of a Misfortunate Youth...

Whatsisname and me
Sitting in my willow tree
Elderly man, crippled as he runs down the lane
Tries to rescue his daughter, needs to catch the train
Missing the last one, decides to walk back
But on his way home gets mugged by a crack
Addict and killer named Charlie, thieves money for his fix
Goes to his dealer, but he’s got some new tricks
Up his sleeves, knows it’s been too long
So he swallows his pride, and goes to see his son.

Meanwhile whatsisname and me,
Still sat here in my willow tree
His name has changed four times since then
Matthew, Mark, Luke then Ken?

The news switches on in a family living room
Having beaten up his wife, he stands there, looms
Over her, he’s dangerous, like the Grim Reaper
She can’t get out, there’s no escape, he’s the ‘Housekeeper’
John will get his comeuppance one of these days
Rather sooner than later, his wife still there, just lays
With her eyes closed, body limp, making no sound
Panicking, he digs a hole, burying her in the ground.

A boy
Too petrified, will not ever dare go back home
He ran straight out that door, and now he’s all alone
Running down the street at full pelt he catches my eye
The look of pain across his face, as I begin to cry
Wonders if his Granddad will ever find him alive
Hopes to God, unlike his mum, that he will survive

Ken says goodbye, he’s had enough of me, the boy still stares
Wanting to be loved, wishing for someone who really cares
So for the first time in a week, I climbed down my tree
To sit with him in the guttering, he said his name was Lee.

Whatsisname and me
No longer sat in my willow tree
Now we fly so much higher, watching people on the Earth
Looking on those, whose lives like ours had no special worth
Holding hands, searching eyes, skimming the clouds with our toes
Only seeing people worse off than us, their burdens and their sorrows.

Fishing

As the net catches those who fall
I missed my turn and looked so small
you cuddle fast and i'm quick to learn
that years blink, there dies a fern

so precious so bleak and yet I smile
remembering those things for a while
sometimes i'll cry sometimes i'll laugh
but always heart and head will faff
and go between

the good
the bad
and the downright mean.

I heart Charity Shops!

I discovered this fantastic Agatha Christie novel 'Nemesis' in a charity shop recently for 50p! There is something quite beautiful about a smelly, fusty, old book! It will go very nicely with the already brimming collection!

Bits and Bobs... and a Cayenne pepper plant!!!!!

So it all started with a pepper plant. £1.49. I am really hoping this will turn red..... and I can eat it...... would be spectacular. It apparently can either be a house plant or outdoor one. I don't really trust the outside weather though !!!

I love the stand-alone picture I've made below! Not to be to up my own hoo-haa, but it was so simple. Blue card frame, with a blue card stand behind it (YES it stands up!!! :D) with wallpaper, a blue cut -out flower and a blue button!!!!!!!

What do people think of this last card? I think it looks like a plant, but some people I asked weren't too sure if they liked it? Comments welcome!

Cherished Part Deux...... can Sarah actually make cards?

Okay, so I have had a try at making some cards and would love people to stumble across these and give their own opinions and thoughts on what I have created so far!!!

Some of them are really easy to make! This one here to the left was simply a piece of wallpaper from B&Q inside a window-cut card!!!! :D
The ribbon is so cute! I managed to find a cute little homewares shop up hill where I'm living that sold silver ribbon with the words 'Bon Anniversaire' and 'Happy Birthday' alternating in between little hearts! It was literally 50p for a whole metre which lasted around 10 cards!
I think so far though my favourite little finds are the buttons from the local bead shop (you can fill a small bag as full as you can, as long as it shuts, and it's only £2!!!) Also I adore the polka dot shapes; butterflies, hearts, doves and flowers!!!!

Sewing the seeds of fun!

Since moving house I love the idea of developing a little plot in my garden (pictures soon!!!) and planting lots of things in pots! First mission was some moss curled parsley. The seeds, trowel and soil cost around £2.50 for the lot so I was not getting my hopes up!

Success, 1 week later and guess what?! My little parsley seeds were growing....and growing.... and GROWING! Loads of fun! I reccommend anyone that's at home a lot to grow some simple herbs or flowers! It really is something watching something you planted bloom!
Coming up..... progress for the Cayenne red pepper plant?

Project : Cherished!

It all started with a long, black ribbon (that used to be a tie for a black strappy dress I never wear) and a scarf! Now i'm not in any way, shape or form, good at sewing, but I was quite impressed. My new house has gifted me with a nice walk in wardrobe, but no furniture so I had thought of a genius way of putting all my socks together...a sock bag! But, now, alas, poor socks, I just want to take this bag out with me!!!!! Cute or what?!

Cherished Cards!

Hello Bloggers!

Sorry for the huge delay in posts, I have lacked internet for the last few weeks, after moving into the nicest house ever!

Now I have space to think, create and truly enjoy, I'm starting to love my life! I'm planting seeds and smiling ceremoniously when they start to grow! The best thing ever though is I'm starting a little crafts business. I've decided on the name of 'Cherished' because I want the things I create and put love into, to be loved and.... you said it... Cherished!!! I have started off by sewing small things, making my own cards (using my family and friends as guinea pigs, to see if I am any good!). I have lots of pictures to put up and I hope you enjoy them. Feel free to comment, make suggestions, even criticise (be nice!)

I seem to have found my mojo....

It was gone and now it's found, I've written some more, so stick around, for crazy rhymes good and bad, some for happy and some for sad!

Arrrgh, Bear!

I'll buy you a canvas, if you'll paint me a bear,
running amock in the forest, it only seems fair,
to paint him some trees and some soil on the ground
and maybe some honey, it's sweetness profound

Or perhaps that's just Pooh, who loves a golden treat,
most bears I find tend to crave slabs of meat,
or maybe they're veggies and prefer a succulent leaf,
and a berry or two of the bush variety.

Do mind your manners when you see a big brown bear,
they like smiles and thank yoos, and yes they do care,
if you tread on their toes oh so accidentally,
make sure you act all innocent and tell them you're sorry!!!

Skin.

What is it about me that you hate so much,
is it my love of outside or how I act butch?
is it because as crap hits the fan
I'll run a mile and hop in a van?

Maybe the fact you'll never see me cry,
or is it because i'm blatantly not shy?
Does it depend on what colour you wear?
As to how much you are willing to share.

Lie to me, go on, I dare
pretend to me that you care,
I'll run my river in the shade,
my love will not even fade,
I'll continue to smile,
and as I run that mile,
my feet get sore,
forgetting my shoes as I shot out that door, and even then, and even now, and even when I knew the truth

my forgiveness still stands.

This world that I'm in,

is good for your skin.

Posted. And. Noted.

Posted your flowers this morning,
letterbox, blood, nail deep red
and this is what the post-it said
"to whom gives a crap"

No not me, yap yap yap
I'll commend your effort while the others clap

This ryhme seems erratic and whilst thoughts of you unshed
I'm peeling that life away like a snake flakes it's skin

the past is becoming a slienced din
and thoughts of that

and you

are

fin.

I hope you enjoyed these :) feel free to comment! xxx

Best Illustrator ever...

Whilst I am here I would absolutely love to embellish and selflessly advertise the skills of a very intelligent, imaginative and artistic woman named Antonia! Her websites are listed below and I would really love for more people to know about her and her amazing work!

http://www.antoniaillustrates.co.uk/

http://www.theartcupboard.co.uk/

Thank you for your time bloggers :)

Please stop me PROCRASTINATING!!!

Okay so I have been having some thoughts about what I actually want to do with my life and I have come up with 3!
1) Continue to write poems/songs!
2) Become a critic of something (food maybe?!)
3) Design my own sets of gift cards with my own greetings/poems inscribed in them!

Inevitably after leaving University my only goal was seeking full time employment. As a result, it seems I have neglected the creative, the wacky, the more ME side of me! You get me? Okay, let's race on.

I move house mid July and I'm flipping excited. A new valley of adventures and trials has just opened up and I cannot wait. I'm itching to get settled in and start being ME.

I find myself writing the word(or letter depending on how facetious one coud be) 'I' but I guess, selfishly this blog is ABOUT ME. Change is a good thing and at the minute I fail to showcase who Sarah is.

I'm not a graduate who worked in a rubbish bakery and rubbish call centre until she found her niche in Insurance.

I AM A WRITER, AND, I WILL WRITE!

I hope I haven't bored you too much, but I hope this mini pep-talk will kick me into some real activity by the end of this month!

It's like new years resolutions only I choose to have monthly ones.

Set yourself targets fellow bloggers. Especially if you're anything like me; preferring to procrastinate and ramble on rather than get things DONE.

Randomness, of a rhyming kind.

Stop throwing me these obstacles, and messing with my frown
sometimes life decides to crash, and that might make me down
I know that often I will freak, and try to run long distance
but there's something here that stops me, I think that it's an existance
of you and me and what may pass
I know that this through it all will last
a blossoming friendship, I'll cherish forever
whoever the change, whatever the weather
stronger than any stone
a bond which has grown
sorrow crosses everyone at one point inside
but I shall smile right after I have cried
and sing your praises, I'll not fear
I have confidence now, that's clear.
